Avalon State Park has over a mile of beaches for swimming, snorkeling, surf fishing, sunbathers and maybe just fly a kite. Swimmers and snorkelers are reminded to keep an eye out for unwater obstacles that are remaining from amphibious exercises that were conducted at the beach during WW2. Fishermen can go after such species as Bluefish, Snook, Red Drum, Black Drums, Permit, Pompano and Whiting. No lifeguards are on duty at Avalon State Park and all activities are at your own risk. You can also just sunbath at the park and have a picnic lunch or dinner. Drop your ocean kayak into the clear water and enjoy seeing an abundance of marine life. Once done with the day in the salt air, rinse off at one of the showers provided.

Recreational opportunities abound at Fort Pierce Inlet State Park. One can take place in vigorous activities such as surfing, sea kayaking and beach running or you may choose to do some less stressful activities such as surf fishing, beachcombing or picnicking. Other activities at the park include snorkeling, canoeing, biking, wildlife viewing and scuba diving. Once done with your days activities you can shower off at the park. Catch a saltwater fish and cook it up for dinner. remember to bring a kid with you and have a great day.
