Beach driving is permitted at this location be sure to get your beach driving permits.
In general driving on the beach is within the State Park boundries. Please be respectful of posted signs and remain off the sensitive dunes.
Horseback riding is allowed at Amelia Island State Park. You must have all shot records with you and a negative Coggins test certificate.
Please watch tides at this park and how it may impact horseback riding. No special decals from Nassau County are necessary at this area.
Comprising over 200 acres on the northern side of Nassau Sound, Amelia Island State Park offers up quite the fishing opportunity. Species that can be caught are whiting, speckled sea trout, jacks, flounder, redfish and tarpon.
The George Crady Fishing Bridge State Park,which is closed to vehicular traffic still spans Nassau Sound, but now offers close to a mile of space to drop or cast a line. redfish and speckled sea trout are around all year, numbers peak for these two species in the spring and fall. Sorry, no pets are allowed on the fishing bridge.
Baits that have been found to be popular include: mullet and shrimp.
Amelia Island State Park is one of the seven parks that make up what is collectively called Talbot Island State Parks.

American Beach

A very historic beach relating to the black community during the days of segregation. Good energy has gone into preserving this heritage for future generations and not bowing to the pressures of wealthy developers just to the north and south. American Beach does deserve recognition for keeping this historical accuracy alive.

This free park is open from sunrise to sunset. There are picnic tables and a picnic area. There are also public restroom facilities and outdoor showers. Like most beaches on Amelia Island, the surf fishing can be very decent.
There is a handicap accessible beach access here. Pets are allowed, but must be on a leash.

Main Beach Park

This is the largest public beach on the island. There's a skate park located at the Main Beach Park - it's official name is the Fernandina Beach Skate Park. It's open from dusk to dawn and helmets are required. Main Beach Park also has a volleyball court and a playground.
North Beach Park

The North Beach Park offers; Beach access, 22+/- parking spaces, 2 small picnic shelters with a table at each, board walk to beach, ocean swimming, surfing, kite flying and surf fishing. No restrooms at this location.

You can drive your vehicle onto the beach here - but be warned that 4-wheel drives are a really good idea! Horseback riding is permitted on the beach from this access. Please see: regulations and decal requirements
The amenities here are great - restrooms, indoor and outdoor showers and picnic shelters.
Surf fishing can be good here - from Whiting to Pompano, depending on the season. Locals claim that fiddler crabs are good bait here.

This beach, and Peter's Point, are the two accesses via vehicles to the beach. You really do need a 4-wheel vehicle to navigate this beach!
There's a small public parking lot, a dune walkover, picnic tables and public restrooms.
Along with great surf fishing, you can find plenty to do here. Shelling, swimming, surfing and sunning are all popular.

Horses on the beach regulations
• Horses shall be under the control of the rider at all times.
• Horses shall be governed under the established traffic & littering laws.
• Horses shall not be allowed in public shower or cabana areas.
• Absolutely no vehicles or horses allowed on the dunes or vegetation.
• Absolutely no vehicles or horses allowed within the designated swimming or sunbathing areas.
• Parking for horse trailers shall be within the designated area at Peter's Point Park.
• Trailers or other conveyance that carry horses shall have a decal attached to the trailer.

Drivers license and horse trailer registration will be needed for the decal process.
No fee for Nassau County residence and as of 2011 the fee for out of county residents is $40.00 per year, with the year starting in September.
