Captain Lawrence Piper was born in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, grew up just north of the lighthouse and has been fishing here all his life. In addition to knowing the history of the island, he can point you to the best sites and restaurants, too! He has been an Amelia Island fishing guide and a U.S. Coast Guard licensed charter boat operator since 2006 and enjoys seeing people catch fish as much as he loves to fish! He is a Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructor and will be happy to help with your Fly Casting. All things fishing are his passion, whether it be fishing the back waters with light tackle, making fishing related leather items, tying flies, fly fishing, reading fishing books and articles, writing about fishing or collecting and making fishing lures. He likes to cook and love’s seafood! He’s got the angler’s mark and wants to share that passion with you and your family, too! Captain Piper prides himself in being professional, service oriented, humble, yet confident in his abilities as your Amelia Island fishing guide.

I was in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years. I retired in 2000 in North Carolina and then moved to Fernandina Beach in 2002. I’ve been married for 24 years to a beautiful wife who happens to love fishing. We have 3 grown children and 10 grand children. I have been fishing the Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach waters for 6 years. I have also fished the Redfish tournament trails for about 11 years. I enjoyed fishing new water and competing. I became a guide because I enjoy meeting new people and taking them fishing. It’s great to see them catch and land their first Redfish, the look on their faces is always very memorable! I look forward to serving you and I will make sure that your charter experience will be a memorable one as well.
