Avalon State Park has over a mile of beaches for swimming, snorkeling, surf fishing, sunbathers and maybe just fly a kite. Swimmers and snorkelers are reminded to keep an eye out for unwater obstacles that are remaining from amphibious exercises that were conducted at the beach during WW2. Fishermen can go after such species as Bluefish, Snook, Red Drum, Black Drums, Permit, Pompano and Whiting. No lifeguards are on duty at Avalon State Park and all activities are at your own risk. You can also just sunbath at the park and have a picnic lunch or dinner. Drop your ocean kayak into the clear water and enjoy seeing an abundance of marine life. Once done with the day in the salt air, rinse off at one of the showers provided.
